The Polyolefin Circular Economy Platform (PCEP, Brussels; https://pcep.eu) said it has appointed Paolo Bochiccio to take over from interim secretary general Danuta Slusarska from 1 September 2022.

Bochiccio has a law degree and 16 years of experience in management positions, among others at European Plastics Converters (EuPC, Brussels; www.plasticsconverters.eu) and the European Lime Association (EuLA, Brussels; www.eula.eu). His predecessor Slusarska held the position from March 2022 following the departure of Venetia Spencer.

The PCEP was founded by the EuPC, Plastics Europe (Brussels; www.plasticseurope.org), and Plastics Recyclers Europe (Brussels; www.plasticsrecyclers.eu) in 2016 (see Plasteurope.com of 26.10.2016). The multi-stakeholder group of some 40 companies aims to work towards a circular economy, focusing its efforts on polyolefin recycling.

After having reached its initial 2025 target of 10 mn t of recovered plastics in new products in the EU ahead of schedule, the initiative recently announced it would upgrade the polyolefin industry’s voluntary commitment. The aim is now to achieve 4 mn t/y by 2025, among other goals listed in what it calls its “ambitious” work programme.
