Plans for French production of Pebax TPE / Global output to increase some 25%

French resin maker Arkema (Colombes; www.arkema.com) said will add capacity for its Pebax brand TPE at its domestic site in Serquigny by mid-2023.
The company reports that the move will increase the worldwide output of the material by about a quarter. The investment of an undisclosed amount is intended to enable the production of both conventional Pebax grades and the bio-based and recyclable Pebax Rnew brand. Arkema currently manufactures Pebax TPE at its US facility in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania.
The materials are used for lightweight solutions in sporting goods such as running shoes and ski boots, consumer goods such as smartphones and flexible screens, and medical equipment.
Arkema’s Serquigny site also produces polyamide 11 and 12, according to Plasteurope.com’s Polyglobe database (www.polyglobe.net).
