Dutch packaging company Paardekooper Group (Oud-Beijerland; www.paardekoopergroup.com) said it is buying compatriot floristry packaging supplier Van Dillewijn Group (Amstelveen; www.dillewijn.nl) in a deal that includes the recently acquired Alflora shops along with the Terra International, Vaselife International and Synpro Moulding business units. No financial details were disclosed.

Paardekooper, which supplies packaging to the floriculture, retail, industrial, food service and agricultural sectors, said the Van Dillewijn divisions will be added to its Horti division. Paardekooper CEO Johan van Hees said, “The takeover will strengthen our position as a leader in sustainable packaging, both nationally and internationally. The integration provides various synergy advantages that will benefit our customers.”

The deal is subject to regulatory approval and the two companies expect it to be completed in September 2021.

Van Dillewijn supplies packaging, floristry items and decoration materials to the floriculture sector and has more than 200 employees. Mark de Krosse, group CEO, said, “In the current times, it is necessary to be able to adapt quickly. The transition to a sustainable and future-proof company demands great effort. With Paardekooper, there will be plenty of room and clout to start this transition.”

Paardekooper also announced that it is changing the names of its companies, with the exception of The LCA Centre, to Paardekooper. The group has been expanding over the last decade, acquiring various Dutch packaging companies including Broekhof (see Plasteurope.com of 22.11.2019).
