German plastics group Rehau’s (Rehau; www.rehau.com) domestic medical technology firm Raumedic (Helmbrechts; www.raumedic.com) plans to add two production facilities at the company’s headquarters by 2025, with a focus on silicone tubing for the pharmaceutical industry.

The planning phase for the first building is almost complete, and the application for a building permit is expected to be submitted in Q1 2022, the company said, adding that construction work at the industrial park is scheduled to begin by spring 2022. The new 5,017 m² production facility is to be equipped for silicone processing, with extrusion systems, a laboratory and a raw materials technical centre, according to the company.

CEO Stefan Seuferling said, “Over the next five years, we will invest a total of EUR 50m in the structural expansion of the Helmbrechts location and further increase silicone processing at the same time.”

At the Helmbrechts site, 80 of the company’s 900 worldwide employees work in silicone extrusion. The new production area is expected to employ 190 workers by 2025. The medical technology group has forecast global revenue of EUR 150m in 2021 after reporting turnover of EUR 138.7m in 2020.
