Plastics engineering group Röchling Industrial (Mannhein / Germany; www.roechling.com) has started construction work on a new production and office facility for its Laupheim subsidiary in southern Germany.

The EUR 14m project at the Am Flugplatz business park in Burgrieden is to boost capacity at what was formerly Fischer Kunststoff Präzision, before Röchling bought the business in 2017. The new building, work on which began on 1 July 2021, will comprise 7,500 m² of production space and 1,000 m² for administration staff.

Röchling said strong growth across its business, especially in its healthcare activities, meant it had to increase production capacity. The new plant at Laupheim will feature 1,200 m² of space for healthcare products. The group also plans to manufacture products under clean-room conditions at the new site.

After relatively weak financial results in 2020, the group announced a clear business recovery for the first four months of 2021, but complained about ongoing material bottlenecks (see Plasteurope.com of 27.05.2021).
