PLASTICS RECYCLING EUROPE
MORE platform reopens / 1m t of recycled material
Converters can again report their recycling efforts to the online platform (Image: MORE)
The European Plastics Converters Association (EuPC, Brussels / Belgium; www.plasticsconverters.eu) said its online platform for converters, Monitoring Recyclates for Europe (MORE), reopened on 1 June 2021 after closing down for annual maintenance. During the shutdown, the platform was also updated to be fully compliant with the data collection requirements of the Circular Plastics Alliance (CPA), a European Commission initiative set up in 2019 to support recycling (see Plasteurope.com of 23.09.2019). EuPC added that MORE now includes certification and audit requirements.

The platform aims to monitor and register the efforts taken by the European plastics converting industry to reach the EU target of using 10m t recycled polymers by 2025-2030 versus the current 5m t. According to Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE, Brussels; www.plasticsrecyclers.eu), the European plastics recycling industry for the former EU 28+2 had a total plastics recycling capacity of more than 8.5m t in 2019.

EuPC noted that during its second year, MORE data showed that 1m t of recycled materials were used in products (see Plasteurope.com of 25.09.2020).
