Adding to the growing list of events disrupted by measures imposed across the globe to limit the spread of coronavirus – see Plasteurope.com of 27.02.2020, 11.03.2020, 17.03.2020 and 17.03.2020 – the latest postponements include the 2020 edition of the “Equiplast” (www.equiplast.com) plastics and rubber trade fair in Barcelona / Spain, initially planned for 2-6 June 2020, it will now run from 1-5 December 2020. Equiplast takes place every three years and is organised by Fira de Barcelona (www.firabcn.es). The 2017 edition that was concurrently held with “Expoquimia”, “Eurosurfas”, “World Chemical Summit and Smart Chemistry” and “Smart Future” events and exhibitions attracted more than 35,000 visitors. Expoquimia and Eurosurfas are also to take place during the new December dates.

The June dates were actually new for Equiplast, which has been held in October/November in the past. In February 2020, Equiplast director Pilar Navarro explained that in response to a request from the main players in the sector, the decision was made to move the trade fair to June, which was deemed a more suitable month for commercial, communication and marketing purposes. She noted that Barcelona also offers numerous attractions in June for exhibitors and visitors.

Chemical Recycling Europe (ChemRecEurope, Brussels / Belgium; www.chemicalrecyclingeurope.eu) has also postponed its second conference that was scheduled to run from 26-27 May 2020 in Brussels. The rescheduling is for 10-11 September 2020 at the same location.
