JOHNSON CONTROLS
Automotive Experience business to be renamed Adient / Spin-off scheduled for October
Johnson Controls (Milwaukee, Wisconsin / USA; www.johnsoncontrols.com) has taken another step in the process of divesting its Automotive Experience business (for previous coverage, see Plasteurope.com of 30.07.2015). The unit, which specialises in automotive seating and interior, is to be spun off into a new publicly traded company in October 2016. At the ongoing “North American International Auto Show” (www.naias.com), held in Detroit, Michigan / USA, from 11-24 January 2016, Johnson Controls said the soon to be independent company will be called Adient (www.adient.com).
Bruce McDonald, the current vice chairman of Johnson Controls and the future CEO of Adient, said the Latin name “translates to accepting and advancing a situation or a stimulus, which is representative of our constant drive to engage, compete and always improve.” The incumbent CEO added that Adient, which is expected to start trading on the New York Stock Exchange on 3 October, will increase its investments in innovation. The company currently operates from more than 200 global locations.
