The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA, Helsinki / Finland; http://echa.europa.eu) has launched a consultation on a harmonised classification and labelling proposal for the plasticiser diisohexyl phthalate (DIHP). The proposal follows a request by the Swedish Chemicals Agency for DIHP to be included in the hazard class of reproductive toxicity. The deadline for comments is 21 September 2012.

ECHA's Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) will consider the comments received during the public consultation when developing its opinion on the harmonised classification and labelling proposal. In turn, the European Commission takes into account the RAC opinion when it decides whether to accept the proposal.
