GRACE
Acquisition of additional PP catalysts capacity
US speciality chemicals manufacturer W. R. Grace (Columbia, Maryland; www.grace.com) on 18 November acquired Synthetech (Albany, Oregon / USA; www.synthetech.com), in a move that constitutes yet another step to expanding its activity in the field of catalysts for the polimerisation of plastics, specifically PP. Grace is to pay about USD 20m for Synthetech, which manufactures catalysts as well as additives for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics sector. The Maryland-based company currently is increasing catalyst production at its plant in Worms / Germany – see Plasteurope.com of 15.12.2009.
