ALBIPLAST / BELLAPLAST
Merger to form SwissPrimePack / Expansion plans for both Swiss sites
Swiss plastic packaging specialists Albiplast (Niederuzwil) and Bellaplast (Altstätten) have been merged retroactively as of 1 January 2008 to form SwissPrimePack AG (www.swissprimepack.ch) – see Plasteurope.com of 07.02.2008. The new company will be based in Altstätten. The new joint partner and CEO is Jan Schürmann, previously head of global marketing at SIG Combibloc (Linnich / Germany; www.combibloc.com).
The newly formed consumer packaging company has some 200 employees and annual sales of around CHF 80m (EUR 50m). SwissPrimePack develops and manufactures packaging for the food industry in Switzerland and neighbouring countries. The group has subsidiaries in France and the UK.
The plan is to step up internationalisation and the first step will be to strengthen its position on the European market, the company said. To keep pace with the planned growth, SwissPrimePack will be expanding its production sites in Niederuzwil and Altstätten.
