Acoustics and plastics technology divisions sold to German financial consortium
As recently announced, Rütgers AG (D-45128 Essen; www.ruetgers.de) is selling the acoustics (CWW) and plastics technology (RKT) divisions of its automotive engineering branch. The divisions are being sold to a consortium of German financial investors, Deutsche Beteiligungs AG, Beteiligungsgesellschaft für die deutsche Wirtschaft mbH and Süd Private Equity Management GmbH. Terms of the agreement have not been disclosed. The transaction still must be approved by cartel authorities.
The acoustics division led by CWW-Gerko Akustik GmbH (D-67547 Worms) has five facilities, including three in Germany, one in Spain and one in the US, and a total of 1,270 employees. Core products include films, bulk goods as well as components for solid-borne and air-borne sound absorption. The company is a supplier to both the automotive industry and producers of domestic appliances.
The plastics technology division, led by Rütgers Kunststofftechnik GmbH (D-73253 Köngen), also operates five production sites, including two in Germany and one each in Spain, Mexico and Brazil, with some 600 employees. According to Rütgers, the two segments had combined turnover of EUR 245m in the last fiscal year.
