DuPont to sell "Invista" nylon business to Koch
DuPont (www.dupont.com), Wilmington, Delaware / USA, is to sell its "Invista" nylon fibres and chemicals business, formerly DuPont Textiles & Interiors, to subsidiaries of Koch Industries, Inc. (www.kochind.com), Wichita, Kansas / USA, for USD 4.4 bn in cash. Closing is expected in the first half of 2004. Koch said the business, which also encompasses intermediates such as adipic acid ("Adi-Pure") for PA and glycol ("Therathane") for polyurethanes, will be a good complement to its polyester activities. Following the divestment of nylon - which the company invented - DuPont shortly will outline actions to ensure competitiveness and achieve its growth objectives, said CEO Chad Holliday.
