Chemicals group Synthos (Oświęcim / Poland; www.synthosgroup.com) has launched “InVento Optima”, an expandable polystyrene (EPS) product, with raw materials obtained from recycled PS products. The geopolymer additive used in its production replaces the previously used athermal additives and increases the new EPS grade’s thermal insulation efficiency.

InVento Optima, used for making insulation panels, significantly reduces heat losses in buildings, thereby cutting greenhouse gas emissions, says Synthos. The new product also shortens the processing time and helps slash the cost of manufacturing thermal insulation materials.

Production is by extrusion on an EPS line that was installed at its Oświęcim site at the end of 2018. Synthos said it is continuing to develop the InVento product line.
