Large-scale order: Multi-layer flat film line for Czech Republic / Commissioned by Fatra
SML Maschinengesellschaft mbH (A-4860 Lenzing; www.sml.at) has recently procured a large-scale order at the rate of EUR 6.7m. The project is said to be comprised of a so-called “nappy film line” for the important Czech plastics processor Fatra a.s. (CZ-76361 Napajedla; www.fatra.cz), a business division of the Czech chemical corporation Aliachem. This line is the most modern computer-controlled multi-layer flat film line for the production of breathable disposable nappy film. For SML this is the eighth line of its kind built since its development and introduction to the market in January 2000. According to its own assessment, the Austrian machine manufacturer is the world leader in this area with regard to technology and production.
The line is 13 metres wide and 23 metres long. It has an output rate of 750 kg/h which corresponds to an area of 18,000 m² of film, enough to produce approximately 150,000 disposable nappies per hour. In addition to disposable nappies, these special high-quality multi-layer films are also used for the production of adult incontinence hygiene products or female hygiene products. Initially, the entire line will be installed and operated at SML´s facility in Lenzing/ Austria. The line is planned to be delivered to the customer in September 2002.
Fatra with its approximately 500 employees is a plastics processor which offers a wide diversity of products. The company produces plastics products for the building industry as well as for the food, consumer, furniture and automotive industry.
