BAYER MATERIALSCIENCE
New PC blend for medical technology applications
Adding to its portfolio of PC/ABS blends, Bayer MaterialScience (BMS, Leverkusen / Germany; www.bayerbms.com) has developed “Bayblend M850XF”. Particularly suitable for medical technology applications, the new grade not only displays excellent stiffness and resistance characteristics, it is also easily processed and heat-resistant. “Bayblend M850XF” meets the US Food and Drug Administration’s biocompatibility requirements of ISO 10933 Part 1 and is suitable for sterilisation using ethylene oxide, gamma radiation and electron rays.

BMS says the grade can find use in opaque medical applications such as surgical instruments and diagnostic equipment, adding that it is particularly suitable for injection moulding thin-walled components.
