Swiss composite materials provider Gurit (Zurich; www.gurit.com) has commissioned its new key continental European composite components production hub in Szekesfehérvár / Hungary – for previous coverage, see Plasteurope.com of 28.11.2013. The 3,000 m² facility is run by its Composite Systems and Engineering business unit and manufactures mostly finished composite parts for the European bus industry as well as certain car body parts for European manufacturers.
The facility, which is located about 60 km southwest of Budapest, can be “easily expanded”, the company said. The plant’s team, which received training in the UK, is headed by Gábor Balogh.
Gurit’s Composite Systems and Engineering business also operates a tooling facility in Taicang / China as well as a prototyping site on the Isle of Wight / UK.
