Taking place in Düsseldorf, Germany, from 8 to 15 October 2025, the K 2025 trade fair is expected to feature a dynamic special show titled Plastics Shape the Future. According to organisers, the show will focus on the transformation of the global plastics industry towards greater sustainability, digital innovation, and social responsibility.

Jointly planned by Plastics Europe Deutschland and Messe Düsseldorf (www.messe-duesseldorf.com), the weeklong programme is set to centre on seven daily themes addressing the sector’s most pressing challenges and opportunities. Topics are expected to include circular economy models, climate protection strategies, the integration of AI and digital tools, and the role of plastics in future industries.

Each day is to feature keynote sessions, expert panels, interactive talks, and networking events. Highlights include Circular Thursday, focusing on sustainable product design and recycling technologies, and Climate Friday, which is expected to explore CO₂ reduction strategies and sustainable production methods. Smart Saturday is to examine the impact of digitalisation and artificial intelligence on material processing and recycling efficiency.

The event also includes Career Sunday, promoting diversity and talent development, rounded off with the Science and Poetry Slam and Women in Plastics networking event. Innovation Monday is set to showcase cutting-edge start-ups and research in material science. Lastly, the week is expected to conclude with Visionary Tuesday, offering a forward-looking perspective on plastics in 2050, including bio-based materials and microplastics reduction.

Organisers have said the programme will be conducted predominantly in English and is expected to attract a wide array of participants from industry, academia, NGOs, and policymaking bodies.
