Danish toymaker to build production campus / Opening set for 2025

Lego (Billund; www.lego.com) has begun construction of a 100,000 m2 campus in its headquarters city in Denmark to bring together nearly 2,000 staff currently working at seven other sites around town.
Some 1,900 employees in production, engineering, and quality control are to occupy 46,000m2 of new office space, laboratories, test facilities, tool shops, and moulding areas once the building opens in 2025.
Lego employs 6,000 people in Billund, and more than 24,000 at 42 locations worldwide.

The “Kornmarken” campus will aim to be certified to LEED – Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design – Platinum level, the highest rating from the US green building system. The company said it will be constructed using steel and concrete that has a reduced carbon footprint for such materials and feature energy efficient heating systems, intelligent interior lighting, and rainwater management through green roofs.
