French speciality chemicals distributor Safic-Alcan (Paris; www.safic-alcan.com) established its presence in Brazil with the 100% acquisition of two distribution companies, creating Safic-Alcan Brasil for its regional operations.

The company fully acquired Proquimil Productos Químicos (São Paolo), a chemical distributor specialising in rubber and plastics. Safic-Alcan also fully acquired Safram Indústria Comercio Importação (São Paolo), a chemical distributor focusing on the personal care, perfume, and cosmetics sectors, a strategic market for the French group.

The integration of the businesses will be led by Luis Maranho, who has been named general manager of Safic-Alcan Brasil. Maranho has years of executive experience in the chemical distribution sector.
