German compounder and plastics wholesaler WIS Kunststoffe (Breitungen; www.wiskunststoffe.de) says it is now distributing PA 6 products from Russia’s KuibyshevAzot (Togliatti; www.kuazot.ru). Areas of coverage include German-speaking Europe, the Benelux region, Poland, the Czech Republic and other markets in Eastern Europe.

In Germany, the KuibyshevAzot products are manufactured by its subsidiary STFG Filamente (Rudolstadt; www.stfg-rudolstadt.com), and include self-lubricating, unreinforced materials from the “Volgamid BXD” line, and “Volgamid Eco” PA 6 products and recyclate-based compounds. STFG has had compounding capacity of 12,000 t/y at its fibre-spinning site in Rudolstadt since late 2020 (see Plasteurope.com of 22.09.2020).

KuibyshevAzot claims to be Russia’s market leader for the production of caprolactam and PA 6, and textile yarns and tyre cord fabrics made from them. The company says backward integration to monomers makes it less susceptible to supply bottlenecks.

Family-owned WIS Kunststoffe, founded in 1991, focuses on the trade, distribution and compounding of thermoplastics and the recycling of all common polymers at its two locations in Breitungen. The partnership with KuibyshevAzot complements the existing distribution agreement in the polyamide sector with Germany’s Domo Chemicals (Leuna; www.domochemicals.com), WIS sales manager Daniel Römhild said.
