Italian compounder and flame retardant specialist Vamp Tech (Busnago; www.vamptech.com) has announced plans to increase capacity at its headquarters plant to 20,000 t/y. The move should complete the company’s three-year “Italia 2019/2021” expansion plan announced in 2019, and the additional production volume is expected to be available from January 2022.

According to CEO Piero Eigenmann, the 25% increase in capacity is primarily intended to serve growth in flame-retardant compounds for the E&E, household appliance and medical technology industries. Additionally, significantly longer delivery times as of late are to be shortened through the expansion. “We have replaced some extrusion lines with larger and more efficient ones,” Eigenmann said. At the same time, additional areas for raw material preparation, quality control and packaging have been created.

This year the compounder aims to generate sales of EUR 100m, about a fifth more than in 2018. Growth drivers are expected to be a Malaysian plant built in 2019, which Eigenmann says will make a “brilliant contribution to sales”, and “Vamp Green” brand non-petroleum-based polyolefin and polyamide compounds.

The only two non-Italian lines have a capacity of 6,000 t/y and two more are to be added over the next few years. The plant substitutes for the 2018 minority stake taken in Malaysian partner Unicolour Polymer Technology (see Plasteurope.com of 25.04.2018).
