New peroxide masterbatches facilitate downstream processing of PP recyclate

With the “P-Series”, compounder Polyvel Europe (Hamburg / Germany; www.polyvel-europe.com) has introduced new peroxide masterbatches in granulate form. They are designed to improve the flow properties of recycled polypropylene with additive concentrations of 5%, 10% and 20% peroxide.

The rPP obtained from mechanical pre-sorting of different material streams is said to often have a low melt flow index due to the partly very long polymer chains. The addition of peroxide masterbatches aims to shorten these chains and thus facilitate the downstream processing of recycled polypropylene in the injection moulding process.
