Dutch recycler Morssinkhof-Rymoplast (Lichtenvoorde; and Dansk Retursystem (Hedehusene / Denmark;, operator of the Danish plastic beverage bottles return and deposit system, are extending their existing bottle-to-bottle loop for clear and light-blue coloured bottles to include green PET beverage bottles.

Morssinkhof-Rymoplast recycles into new bottles the high-quality PET bottles supplied by Dansk Retursystem. The next step in the collaboration between the two companies is bottle-to-bottle recycling for the dark blue bottles.

Due to an increasing demand for recycled PET materials in the European beverage industry, bottle-to-bottle recycling is growing in the EU – especially for clear and light blue coloured beverage bottles. Coloured PET bottles are still mainly recycled into non-food applications. Two years ago, the Dutch firm had announced plans to build a PET recycling plant in Germany with 40,000 t/y capacity (see of 23.07.2019).

The demand for recycled PET-bottle grade is projected to continue to grow as companies comply with EU targets that include incorporating 25% of recycled plastic in PET beverage bottles from 2025, and 30% in all plastic beverage bottles from 2030.
