Several additional certification bodies have become part of the traceability scheme offered by RecyClass (Brussels / Belgium; www.recyclass.eu), a cross-industry initiative created by Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE, Brussels; www.plasticsrecyclers.eu – see Plasteurope.com of 07.08.2020).

The latest organisations to join are lms consulting (Altenmarkt an der Triesting / Austria; www.lms-consulting.at), ecocycle (Elsdorf / Germany; www.ecocycle.de), QHSE cert (Dortmund / Germany; www.qhse-cert.com), Sachverständigenbüro Widmayer (Walheim / Germany; www.svb-widmayer.de), ZN ZertifizierungsNetzwerk (Tübingen / Germany; www.zertifizierungsnetzwerk.de), HTP (Essen / Germany; www.htp.eu), KPMG (Madrid / Spain; www.home.kpmg/es), AIJU (Alicante / Spain; www.aiju.es), Aimplas (Valencia / Spain; www.aimplas.net), DQS Hellas (Athens / Greece; www.dqs.gr) and DQS doo Belgrade (Belgrade / Serbia; www.dqs-serbia.rs).

“This interest is a clear signal,” noted Gian de Belder, RecyClass advisory board chairman and technical director for R&D of packaging sustainability at Procter & Gamble (P&G, Cincinnati, Ohio / USA; www.us.pg.com). “The industry as well as the actors of the plastics value chain are looking for reliable schemes to demonstrate and report on their sustainability goals in a coherent manner, and RecyClass meets their demands.”

RecyClass said that since the launch of its traceability certification, which determines the share of recycled content in plastics packaging, the number of recognised auditors has more than doubled to 25, from 21 European organisations.
