Cromwell Polythene (Leeds / UK; www.cromwellpolythene.co.uk) has taken investment in its UK manufacturing and recycling operation, CPR Manufacturing, to GBP 1m (EUR 1.14m), a year after it launched the business.

The group said the latest investment focus had been on machines to produce recycling and waste sacks, including clinical waste sacks. Following the installation of the new machines, CPR would be able to produce 2 million bags per week. Upgrades have also been carried out on existing equipment, the company said.

Cromwell launched its plastics recycling operation after buying Moorgreen Flexible Packaging from Duo Plastics (Manchester / UK; www.duo-uk.co.uk) in January 2020 (see Plasteurope.com 22.01.2020).

The Leeds-based firm was one of the many UK plastics companies that responded to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic by increasing the production of protective clothing and equipment, as well as manufacturing clinical waste bags (see Plasteurope.com 16.04.2020), and then went on to ramping up the capacity of its polyethylene recycling and reprocessing division in August 2020 (see Plasteurope.com of 28.08.2020).
