German distributor K.D. Feddersen (Hamburg; www.kdfeddersen.com) has announced that its compounding subsidiary Akro-Plastic (Niederzissen / Germany; www.akro-plastic.com) will soon begin to take responsibility for sales of its own products, which include the plastic compounds and blends of the brands “Akromid” and “Akroloy” (PA 6, PA 6.6), “Akrolen” (PP), Akrotek (PK, PAEK, PEEK) and “Precite” (PBT, PET). From 1 January 2021, the sales changeover will initially take place in the company’s domestic market and with China, where a new compounding plant is about to start operations (see Plasteurope.com of 27.01.2020). The switch in other European countries is expected to be completed by 1 January 2022. Polyamide compounds from other suppliers managed by K.D. Feddersen are to remain in the portfolio.

Volker Scheel, managing director of K.D. Feddersen Holding, said, “The strategic repositioning of the business fields of plastics production and plastics distribution in the market should secure the potential for success and create the best possible conditions for the further development of the group as a whole.”

German competitor Albis Plastic (Hamburg; www.albis.com) recently separated its distribution and compounding units from one another (see Plasteurope.com of 12.10.2020).
