A major fire has destroyed the roof structure of a production hall at Italian composites and GFRP processor Fiber Plast (Latsch; www.fiberplast-bz.it). The investigation into the cause of the blaze on 1 October 2020 is ongoing, and production will be impaired until roof repairs are completed in December, said Managing Director Daniel Nagl, who runs the manufacturer of filter containers for swimming pools with his father Andreas Nagl. The raw material store for polyester resins and other supplies remained intact.
The accident has, however, presented an opportunity, the junior boss noted. The company is planning to combine the repairs with an expansion of the production area and a reorganisation of its work processes.
Fiber Plast was founded in 1988 by the senior Nagl and Eugenio Roversi. The company focused mainly on the Italian market during its initial years of operation and now also supplies customers in Germany and Austria. The workforce comprises almost 20 employees.
