Swedish 3D printing firm buys local injection moulder
Small series and 3D printing specialist Prototal (Jönköping / Sweden; www.prototal.se) has acquired Swedish injection moulder Tojos Plast (Malmö; www.tojos.se) for an undisclosed sum. This is the second corporate takeover it has carried out this year.

Founded in 1951, Tojos Plast supplies customers working in sectors including machinery manufacturing, catering, construction, agriculture, vehicles, mining and packaging. Following the deal Tojos Plast’s chief executive and founder Jan-Olof Wilhelmsson, has resigned, although he will act as a consultant for the company on an ongoing basis. He said the deal was “a natural next step for the business’ continued development and creates new conditions for development.”

Henrik Lundell, Prototal’s CEO, said the acquisition of Tojos Plast would support his firm’s new focus on the digital production of plastic components. Prototal’s deal to buy Tojos Plast, which generates revenues of approximately SEK 40m (EUR 4m), follows its move to acquire Danish additive manufacturer Damvig (Taastrup; www.damvig.dk) in January 2020 (see Plasteurope.com 15.01.2020).

In addition to the Taastrup site in Denmark, Prototal has a plant in Levanger / Norway and four locations in Sweden – Götene, Jönköping, Malmö and Ystad. It recently closed its site in Anderstorp, moving the machinery to its Ystad facility. The company has a workforce of 175, with 100 employed at its main site in Jönköping. Prototal’s annual turnover is at around SEK 360m (EUR 35m).
