Nypro and medical businesses now under Jabil Healthcare
Manufacturing solutions specialist Jabil (St. Petersburg, Florida / USA; www.jabil.com) has announced the consolidation of its medical businesses under Jabil Healthcare. The organisation combines Nypro with orthopaedics, spine, trauma and associated medical device operations, with Steve Borges as CEO.

The five main sectors for Jabil Healthcare are medical devices, orthopaedics, diagnostics, pharmaceutical delivery systems and consumer health. With the rise of digital health and additive manufacturing, the US group said there is a focus on the internet of things (IoT) and digital health platform innovations, including sensors and miniaturisation.

Recently, Nypro announced a USD 18.5m investment into its site in Asheville, North Carolina / USA, which specialises in injection moulding and assembly of precision pharmaceutical delivery components on over 19,000 m² of manufacturing space. The expansion reportedly includes new machinery equipment as well as the creation of over 60 jobs. Jabil took over US injection moulder Nypro in 2013 with a purchase price of USD 665m – see Plasteurope.com of 07.02.2013.
