German supplier Continental (Hannover; www.continental-corporation.com) has announced that its purchase of hose manufacturer Merlett (Daverio / Italy; www.merlett.com) – see Plasteurope.com of 05.07.2019 – has now been completed. The regulatory authorities have given their stamp of approval to the transaction. With this acquisition, Continental will intensify both its material expertise beyond rubber and its knowledge of the design, processing and handling of plastics for industrial hose solutions. At the same time, the group will expand its presence in Europe.

Merlett manufactures hoses among other things from PVC, TPE and polyurethane, sometimes combined with other plastics such as TPU or polyester. The company has two Italian production sites in Daverio and Varano Borghi and another in Rancate / Switzerland as well as sales offices in 12 European countries. Its workforce numbers around 500.
