Production site opened in Hungary / Proximity to automotive supplier Bosch was decisive
Injection moulding specialist and toolmaker Krug (Breidenbach / Germany; recently opened a production facility in Felsőzsolca / Hungary, northeast of Budapest near the border with Slovakia. The company leased an 800 m² hall section and installed two injection moulding machines with clamping forces of 5,000 kN and 10,000 kN, which will produce fans and frames for cars from September 2019. Two more machines are to be added in 2020/21 and another two in 2021. According Krug, there was also the possibility of leasing additional hall space. The company will operate six injection moulding machines and employ a staff of 30 in Felsőzsolca, said Rüdiger Braun, Krug’s head of customer management.

Krug Hungary will then supply the components to German automotive supplier Bosch, which is based in nearby Miskolc / Hungary. The proximity considerably reduces transport costs, according to Krug, and delivery from its two German plants in Breidenbrach or Meerane would not have been viable.

Krug expects a positive business development for its own automotive activities from the emergence of electric vehicles. The company currently generates around 80% of its sales with orders from the automotive industry. In 2018, the company recorded sales of more than EUR 50m. The target for the current financial year is EUR 53m, with the increase particularly coming from new orders the German processor recently won, Braun said. Its largest customers include Bosch, Brose, Magna and Mahle.
