Biesterfeld (Hamburg / Germany; www.biesterfeld.com) has extended its distribution of Solvay's (Brussels / Belgium; www.solvay.com) sulfone polymers to the UK and Ireland, effective April 2019. Distribution rights for the portfolio, which includes “Udel” polysulfone (PSU), “Radel” polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) and “Veradel” polyethersulfone (PESU), were recently extended to Switzerland – see Plasteurope.com of 29.10.2018. The German company distributes Solvay's sulfone polymers to many other parts of Europe.

At the end of 2017, Solvay announced that it would increase production capacity for sulfone polymers by 35% in the next five years – see Plasteurope.com of 13.10.2017. According to Plasteurope.com's Polyglobe database (www.polyglobe.net), the Belgian group currently has sulfone polymer capacities totalling 38,000 t/y. Biesterfeld reported record sales in summer 2018 – see Plasteurope.com of 12.06.2018.
