TriMas (Bloomfield Hills, Michigan / USA; www.trimascorp.com) has signed an agreement to acquire Plastic Srl (Forli / Italy; www.plasticsrl.it), a manufacturer of caps and closures for home care products. The purchase price of the Muccioli family-owned company has not been disclosed. The transaction is scheduled to close in early 2019, after which Plastic Srl will be a wholly-owned division of TriMas’ packaging business Rieke (www.riekepackaging.com).

With the acquisition, TriMas is expanding its geographic presence and adding adjacent products and designs, said TriMas president and CEO Thomas Amato. Plastic Srl has more than 100 closure product designs and serves markets in Italy and other countries in Europe. The Italian company was founded in 1969 and today generates annual sales of around EUR 10m.

TriMas manufactures plastic products for the consumer goods, aerospace, industrial, petrochemical as well as oil and gas industries. Rieke manufactures closures as well as dispensing systems. The US group has locations in 13 countries and employs around 4,000 people. In 2017, TriMas recorded sales of USD 818m (EUR 721m) and an operating income of USD 88.5m.
