German adhesives and sealants manufacturer Weicon (Münster; www.weicon.com) has founded its ninth sales office in Italy. Weicon Italia (Genoa; www.weicon.it) will be managed by Davide Merlo, who has worked as a sales representative for the company in Italy for four years.

Weicon managing director Ralph Weidling said Italy is one of the largest industrialised nations in the world, and it is very important for the company to be present there. According to Weicon, the most important sectors in Italy are manufacturing of machinery, aircraft, ships and vehicles, as well as the chemical and textile industries. The German company notes that the strength of the Italian economy lies in its manufacturing industry, especially in family-run small- and mid-sized enterprises.

Weicon also has offices in Canada, the Czech Republic, Dubai, Romania, Singapore, South Africa, Spain and Turkey. It employs more than 200 people, 130 of whom work at the headquarters in Münster.
