Covestro (Leverkusen / Germany; www.covestro.com) is extending the development and marketing of its continuous fibre-reinforced thermoplastic composites. Addressing what it said is a growing global demand for strong and light materials, the group has introduced its new brand "Maezio".

The thermoplastic semi-finished products, containing polycarbonate and TPU matrix materials, are thermoformed to manufacture laptop covers, suitcases and bicycle parts. Earlier this year, the company expanded production at its subsidiary Covestro Thermoplast Composite in Markt Bibart / Germany – see Plasteurope.com of 15.03.2018. Among others, the Chinese household appliances manufacturer Haier uses panels produced in Markt Bibart to manufacture air conditioner housing.
