TRADE FAIRS
First edition of "ChemPlast Expo" in November in Madrid / "European Congress of Plastic Engineering" will run in parallel
The industrial trade fair for the chemical and plastics industries "ChemPlast Expo" (www.chemplastexpo.com) will debut from 6-8 November 2018 in Madrid / Spain. The event is organised by Nebext (Madrid; www.nebext.com), in collaboration with Spanish technology centre Ainia (Valencia; www.ainia.es), and includes the latest solutions in materials, technologies, processes and machinery. Around 9,400 visitors are expected at the event, including more than 60 organisations and associations, as well as 200 exhibitors.

There will also be events running in parallel with ChemPlast Expo, including the "Congress of Applied Chemistry and Industry 4.0" and the "European Congress of Plastic Engineering". The two congresses comprise the packaging, automotive, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, agrochemical, construction, food and electronic sectors, with the main themes being sustainability, the circular economy, digital transformation and Industry 4.0. ChemPlast Expo will also host the eight edition of the "National Congress of Chemical Distribution", organised by the Spanish chemical trade association Asociación Española del Comercio Químico (Barcelona; www.aecq.es).

Eugenia Anta, executive director of Spanish platform for international advocacy and trade defence for the chemical industry ChemSpain (Madrid; www.chemspain.org), says, "For ChemSpain, participating in ChemPlast Expo is to offer a good opportunity for the companies of the platform, especially for the participation of Turkey as guest country." She says for the Spanish chemical industry's foreign trade, Turkey is a strategic partner as well as the number three non-EU commercial partner.

The trade fair will host the first "ChemPlast Awards", which will be presented on 7 November during the gala dinner. The five categories of the awards are to recognise companies in the chemical and plastics sectors that are committed to innovation, sustainability and digitalisation. Candidacy applications for the awards can be submitted until 7 September. The five categories are the industrial leadership award, the business initiative award, the technological innovation for new materials development award, the research project award and the innovation for analytical technologies and quality control award.
