On the occasion of the 2014 “Chinaplas” (www.chinaplasonline.com) trade fair, which just wrapped up (for details, see Plasteurope.com of 23.04.2014), KraussMaffei (KM, Munich / Germany; www.kraussmaffei.com) officially inaugurated its second production hall in Haiyan / China. The ceremony was attended by about 400 customers and partners. As part of the extension, KM doubled its production space to 22,000 m², continuing on the growth track of its "KraussMaffei", "KraussMaffei Berstorff" and "Netstal" brands in the People’s Republic.

KM emphasised that its locally produced machines are of the same quality as its European output, with group CEO Jan Siebert adding that both Chinese and Asian manufacturers are increasingly demanding high-quality machinery. KM first started producing its “MX” range of injection moulding machines in China last year – see Plasteurope.com of 09.12.2013.

During a special Open House event that coincided with Chinaplas, the company showcased the portfolio of its Haiyan site, emphasising that the MX range is particularly popular among its Asian clientele. KM said that aside from customers from the automotive, packaging and logistics industries, Chinese E&E group TCL also recently ordered nine MX machines, which the company, which claims to be the world’s third largest manufacturer of television sets, will use to produce its own TVs.

"The ability to adapt to various applications is something that more and more customers are taking advantage of, particularly in China, but also in many other countries in South-East Asia," said Kun Wu, KM’s general sales manager for Asia, adding that "2014 got off to a promising start, which means that we will continue to participate in growing markets and further expand our presence as a system provider in Asia."
