On 7 May, a day before the opening of the "interpack" packaging fair (www.interpack.com), held from 8-14 May in Düsseldorf / Germany, the European Association for Unoriented Polyester-Films (EuPET, Frankfurt / Germany; www.eupet.org) is hosting a “PET Film Expert Forum” at the nearby Airport Cologne/Bonn.

The event, participation in which is free of charge, will focus on the future path of APET films, with a special view towards the rising use of PET recyclate. Under the existing legal framework, rPET use in food packaging has to meet the challenge test laid out by EC No. 282/2008 and also has to comply with EC No 10/2011 for food packaging if the recyclate is located behind a functional barrier and is not in contact with food. Aside from this issue, other topics raised at the one-day event include the current market situation in Europe, and the new European strategy on plastic waste, among others.

Presenters include representatives from Klöckner Pentaplast, Octal, Mitsubishi Polyester Film, Aliplast and PolyComply Hoechst, among others.
