UK plastics recycler receives “significant financial injection” from investors / Plans to raise capacity at HQ
The investors of MBA Polymers (Worksop / UK; www.mbapolymers.co.uk) have made what the plastics recycler calls a “significant financial injection” that will allow the company to expand operations at its headquarters. The exact amount was not disclosed.
The recycler’s CEO Nigel Hunton said the money “is a sign of real confidence in our business going forward”, adding that the funds “will enable us to complete improvements that will enhance operational performance and expand capacity at our UK plant at Worksop.” The group is currently able to process 60,000 t/y of material, but says on its website output could be raised to 80,000 t/y.
The money will be used, among others, to improve the site’s production efficiency – ahead of added shredded plastic waste volumes the company expects to come from the imminent commissioning of EMR’s (Westbrook, Warrington / UK; www.emrgroup.com) new plant in Oldbury, Birmingham. The latter, claimed to be the UK’s largest recycling facility, will provide MBA with raw material for its recyclate.
“Taking these moves together, we expect that during the year we will be able to expand production, increase efficiency and expand capacity,” Hunton added.
