BOPP manufacturer invests EUR 30m in new German film production line / Special five-layer extrusion design by Andritz
German BOPP film producer Treofan (Raunheim; www.treofan.com) is investing EUR 30m in a new, 8.7 metre production line at its largest production site in Neunkirchen / Germany. Specially designed by Austria's Andritz (Graz; www.andritz.com), the energy-efficient line is to produce differentiated packaging and label film of varying thicknesses and densities. Construction is scheduled to commence in spring, with equipment due to be installed by the end of 2014. Commercial production is expected to be ready in 2015.
The new line is to feature five-layer extrusion, enabling the production of films with a wide range of properties while ensuring exact structural precision, Treofan said, adding it will also be able to integrate special functionalities into the film. In addition to allowing the manufacturer to quickly switch between products, the new design is also said to incorporate provisions for a potential future extension as well as the addition of new processes and products.
Commenting on the investment, Treofan CEO Peter Vanacker said, “With Andritz, we have jointly developed a sophisticated overall concept spanning everything from raw material supply to a differentiated film portfolio.”
