Acquisition of DEXPlastomers jv completed / DSM also sells LLDPE Compact Solution Technology
Borealis (Vienna / Austria; www.borealis.com) has completed its acquisition of DEXPlastomers (Heerlen / The Netherlands; www.dexplastomers.com), a producer of C8 plastomers and LLDPE, from the former 50:50 joint venture partners DSM (Sittard / The Netherlands; www.dsm.com) and a Dutch affiliate of ExxonMobil Chemical (Baytown, Texas / USA; www.exxonmobilchemical.com) – see Plasteurope.com of 20.11.2012. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The Vienna-based polyolefins giant said around 100 employees will transfer to a new company, Borealis Plastomers, and other units of the Borealis group. As part of the transaction, DSM has also sold its LLDPE “Compact Solutions Technology”, described as instrumental to the operations of DEXPlastomers. Production facilities for the plastomers are located in the DSM-run Chemelot chemical park at Geleen / The Netherlands.
