US specialty wax producer ChemCor acquired / Strengthening Additives & Instruments division
As part of the latest acquisition to strengthen its Additives & Instruments division, German specialty chemicals producer Altana (Wesel; www.altana.com) in early December purchased US specialty wax additives producer Chemical Corporation of America (ChemCor, Chester, New York; www.chemcor.net). Financial details of the transaction, which includes the group’s production site in Chester as well as its employees, were not disclosed.
The US company, which generates annual sales of USD 17m, will be integrated into BYK USA (Wallingford, Connecticut / USA), which in turn is part of Altana’s Additives & Instruments business division. After absorbing DyStar’s (Frankfurt / Germany; www.dystar.com) additive business in 2009 (see Plasteurope.com of 08.04.2009), the Wesel-based group in early 2011 acquired fellow German additive producer Kometra Kunststoff-Modifikatoren und -Additiv (Schkopau) – see Plasteurope.com of 26.01.2011.
