AMCOR
New factory opens in Ireland / Clean room environment / Further investment planned
A EUR 5m purpose-built manufacturing facility has been opened by Amcor Flexibles (Abbotsford / Australia; www.amcor.com) at its Sligo / Ireland site. The 2,275 m² clean room production plant houses new printing, pouch-making and slitting equipment, and will augment current output of short-run rollstock, medical device pouches and die-cut lids and sheet. According to Amcor Flexibles healthcare president Peter Brues, “this investment and expansion of the Sligo operation reinforces Amcor’s commitment to the medical and pharmaceutical markets and is in line with our global strategy to grow in our core market segments, both locally and globally.”
The additional Sligo capacity has been built on a green field site and incorporates the latest environmental technology, including solar panels, low energy lighting and rainwater harvesting. It has created 10 jobs and further investment is planned at the site to enhance the current product portfolio.
