Polish and Korean groups in PET chip jv
Polish chemical group Anwil S.A. (PL-87805 Wloclawek; www.anwil.com.pl) has agreed a joint venture with two Korean companies, SK Chemicals (www.skchemicals.com/english; Seoul) and SK Global to build a USD 60m, 120,000 t/y PET bottle chip plant at Wloclawek. According to the companies, this is the first participation by an Asian PET player in the European market. Completion of the project in 2004 will allow the Korean group to reduce both transport costs and import duties (currently 8%).
