Packaging company invests EUR 35 mn to expand German site / Production of composite cartons set to rise

Swiss composite cartons producer Wintipak (Winterthur; www.wintipak.com) announced it is investing around EUR 35 mn to expand its production site in Kabelsketal, Germany, near Halle in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. A new production building is scheduled to be completed on the site by 2028. According to a company spokesperson, this investment will significantly increase manufacturing capacity from 9 bn units to 12 bn units. The official groundbreaking ceremony is set to take place on 17 November, to be attended by board member Jeff Bi Hua and CEO Markku Vauhkonen.

The Chinese composite cartons manufacturer, operating at the time under the name Greatview Aseptic Packaging Europe, opened the Halle plant in 2013. A first expansion followed in 2016, doubling production capacity. Today, the site produces aseptic composite cartons packaging solutions, available either as roll stock or pre-cut blanks. These materials are exported worldwide from the Saxony-Anhalt facility.

Since 1 April 2025, the European subsidiary has officially been trading under the new name, Wintipak. The company has operated as an independent entity since January 2024, following its separation from the Chinese parent company. With around 450 employees across two European production sites – in Germany in Saxony-Anhalt and in San Pietro in Gu, Italy – Wintipak reported annual sales of CHF 170 mn (EUR 183 mn) last year.
