Capacity for medical technology expanded in Bad Ragaz / New clean rooms at Weidmann
Wicor Holding (Rapperswil / Switzerland; www.wicor.com) is continuing its planned expansion of injection moulding capacity at Weidmann Plastics Technology (www.weidmann-plastics.com) in Bad Ragaz / Switzerland, with a special focus on clean rooms for the manufacture of medical appliances. The company just invested CHF 15m in a new four-storey building. The building, Weidmann’s third in Ragaz, was opened on 20 November 2009. Although the production halls are currently empty, new equipment is to be installed for projects scheduled to start in 2010.
The additional 1,500 m² triple the existing clean room space, doubling production capacity. Wicor CEO Franziska Tschudi explained that the investment allows the company to keep abreast with the growth of its clients in the pharmaceutical and medical technology sectors. As part of the capacity expansion, the workforce will increase from 30 to 110 in the next few years.
