Italian manufacturer expands production capacity for PP cast film / Second plant in Piedmont

Polypropylene cast film specialist Verbano Film (Varallo Pombia, Italy; www.verbanofilm.it) plans to expand its production capacity. The company has opened a second plant in the immediate vicinity of its headquarters at Varallo Pombia in the Piedmont region. The investment totalled over EUR 10 mn, as sales manager Francesco Platini told Plasteurope.com.

The new site increases the production capacity for PP films for the manufacture of flexible packaging to a total of 20,000 t/y, Platini said. In addition, 15 jobs have been created, bringing the workforce to 70 employees.
Verbano Film mainly produces mono-material films and supplies the food, medical, paper, horticultural, and automotive industries, among others. In 2024, the company achieved a turnover of over EUR 40 mn – more recent figures are not yet available.
According to Platini, exports account for around 60% of turnover, with Germany, Greece, and markets in Eastern Europe among the most important sales regions.
