UK firm signs long-term deal to supply composite materials for Boeing's “737 Max” aircraft
Velocity Composites (Burnley / UK; www.velocity-composites.com), a producer of advanced composite material kits for the aerospace industry, has signed a long-term deal to supply consumable kits for the Boeing “737 Max” programme. The GBP 3m (EUR 3.4m) contract, which lasts until the end of 2021, extends an agreement for the provision of complex vacuum bags.
The composite material kits will be produced in Velocity’s Fareham / UK site starting with immediate effect, and used by Velocity’s customer for wing construction on the Boeing 737 Max, the fourth generation of the 737 series. The Fareham facility also has approvals for the Airbus “A330”, “A380” and “A400M” models, and started operating in 2017 with its proximity to continental Europe and thus, to the Airbus’ German and French plants. The UK company's 2,500 m², cleanroom-equipped main plant in Burnley near Liverpool primarily serves the local aerospace cluster.
