PVC window recycler expands UK network through purchase of former partner Trafford Services / Additional processing and storage facility
Veka Recycling (Swanscombe / UK; www.veka-recycling.co.uk) continues to invest in its operations in the UK. After installing a new compounding line for PVC-U pellets in January (see Plasteurope.com of 16.01.2014), the affiliate of Germany’s Veka Umwelttechnik (Behringen; www.veka-ut.de) in early June purchased Trafford Services' (Midlands) site in Bilston for an undisclosed amount.

The roughly 1,860 m2 site will serve as a processing and storage facility for Veka Recycling, reducing the size of post-industrial and post-consumer PVC window material and then sending it to Kent. The shredded PVC is then processed for use in new goods.
The acquisition of its long-term partner – the two companies have worked together for close to seven years – follows a year of negotiations and builds on the experiences Veka Recycling gained from pilot trials at its plant in Barnsley. The fact that the companies are able to draw on an existing relationship means Trafford Services “is already familiar with our focus on getting the infeed quality right and reducing contamination,” said Veka Recycling managing director Tony Cattini.
